aargh! so sad to see the last post on mooncake festival! LOL! hahahah!

hmmm... this time, i wish to discuss with you ppl on the next gathering we should have. (: hahah. very long no meet also lost touch le ma.. so i was thinking, just gather la! and we could chat on nothing s & laugh & ~~cry~~

i'm trying this date, 30th december, mainly 'coz it's a day after the orientation performance and you all probably might be very, very busy preparing for the orientation and all that. (= if the day's ok with you then we can decide the place n time all that.

Moon-cake making session cum talk on "The Dark Side of Cyberspace".
Date: 23 September 2006(this saturday)
Time: 10am - 4pm
Venue: AHS Fern Cove
Cost: $10 per person with lunch included

Yup. Hopefully any one of you would be interested to go for it, as well as your parents, especially the parents in PSG. It's not a must though, but the mooncake making would be for a donation to the Simei Care Centre. We contributed to them for the walkathon that time, and we're doing this again for them FOC. A man is driving down the road and breaks down near a monastery. He goes to the monastery, knocks on the door, and says, "My car broke down. Do you think I could stay the night?"

The monks graciously accept him, feed him dinner, even fix his car. As the man tries to fall asleep, he hears a strange sound. The next morning, he asks the monks what the sound was, but they say, "We can't tell you. You're not a monk."

The man is disappointed but thanks them anyway and goes about his merry way.

Some years later, the same man breaks down in front of the same monastery. The monks again accept him, feed him, even fix his car. That night, he hears the same strange noise that he had heard years earlier.

The next morning, he asks what it is, but the monks reply, "We can't tell you. You're not a monk."

The monks reply, "You must travel the earth and tell us how many blades of grass there are and the exact number of sand pebbles. When you find these numbers, you will become a monk."

The man sets about his task. Some forty-five years later, he returns and knocks on the door of the monastery. He says, "I have traveled the earth and have found what you
have asked for. There are 145,236,284,232 blades of grass and 231,281,219,999,129,382 sand pebbles on the earth."

The monks reply, "Congratulations. You are now a monk. We shall now show you the way to the sound."

The monks lead the man to a wooden door, where the head monk says, "The sound is right behind that door."

The man reaches for the knob, but the door is locked. He says, "Real funny. May I have the key?"

The monks give him the key, and he opens the door. Behind the wooden door is another door made of stone.

The man demands the key to the stone door. The monks give him the key, and he opens it, only to find a door made of ruby.

He demands another key from the monks, who provide it. Behind that door is another door, this one made of sapphire.

So it went until the man had gone through doors of emerald, silver, topaz and amethyst.

Finally, the monks say, "This is the last key to the last door."

The man is relieved to no end. He unlocks the door, turns the knob, and behind that door he is amazed to find the source of that strange sound.

Do you want to know what is that sound?

Sorry I can't tell you what it is because you're not a monk.

Being a treasurer may seem nothing as it's like a "behind the scenes" of the class, yet it is equally important as it carries an important task and responsibility, which is to be in charge of the money of the whole class.

If you all remembered, I had tried out for the Student Councillor Nominations too. Although I had failed, I still stand here and grabbing my chance to be a Treasurer. I hope that you all would see my determination to strive through this.

Why did I want to be a Treasurer?
Money, money, money.. Well, of course I'm not someone who's money-minded and I'm sure all of you could see that. It improves my arithmetic(xin1 suan4), and that it teaches me responsiblitity. But it's not the main reason why do I want to be a Treasurer. My main reason is to serve the class with great loyalty and honesty and with righteousness. If you all observed me well, I hadn't take sides whenever a crisis comes. It will prove that I wouldn't go around and tax any one of you more or give a discount. Also, I am honest and righteous enough to keep the accounts clean and proper, instead of misappropriate some money away, like those embezzlements of company funds in those TV shows, in other words, stealing.

My mother has been an accountant ever since she started working, and until now, she hasn't quitted her job. With the many tips of accounting experience from her, I believe I can learn and apply it to being a good Treasurer. Not just being a Treasurer for 1L, but being a part of 1L, I'll do my utmost to serve the class, regardless whatever becomes of me. I know I may seem really careless that I'm not worthy to be a Treasurer, but hey, if you know me well enough, I put my whole heart into something I'm really devoted and committed to! It might seem exaggerating, but it's true!

If any one of you could tell me what I could improve on, regardless of personally or generally or for a Treasurer or even the sake of 1L, I would gladly accept it and appreciate your effort. Throughout my post, I hope that you all would see that I'm not trying to self-praise, but give my confidence to you all for the hope of some support. Once again, as I hope not to offend any of you, please vote wisely and carefully for someone based on his/her abilities. I hope you all can place your trust in me and make me your Treasurer! Yupp. i have been running as the post of an IT rep for the past few months and would like to continue my services for the next half of the year. I have been an IT rep for the past 5 years and have much valuable experiences in this "job".

I believe I will be able to go online and use the computer frequently so as to upkeep our class blog and make it a success, which will prove how much our class means even electronically.

Although an IT rep may seem to be one of the least important members in the class commitee, I wish to specialise in one my interests and put it into serving the class well and do our class proud.

Isabel here! I'm here to talk about my posts for the Class Committee! hA! I know i'm just a little small fry in 1L, but i wish to my very tiniest part, for 1L! Because i'm part of 1L, and i have the duty & responsibility to do my very best & to give it my all for 1L, to make it the best class in history, never forgotten in our memory, to be in our minds as 'THE BEST CLASS!' So, in order for that to happen, we'll need every single classmate of 1L to make it happen! Yeh!

I have very keen interest in being a secretary. I love organising things ( i practically can't live without it!=D) & I have the language (!?!? =P) I'm willing to sacrifice my everything for 1L, really, much less my time, for 1L's sake!

Functions
For Functions right, i should also have full interest in this too, because organising is my fort (heex!)! I can enhance 1L's bonding (sure!)! And i've always wanted bonding sessions with you people so i'll always be looking foward to organising bonding sessions ( outings ), & you'll never have to worry about me forgetting these things!

heys! Xin Ting here. Erm, for the past few months, i didn't really do anything to serve the class... :( So, now our class is going to choose the class comm again... And i want to grab this chance and to serve the class. Really.

Hello peops!!! Hahax! For the past few months, i have been 1L's adorable welfare IC...yup...and i hope to be able to continue my service to the class...
For months...we have been together...tears have we cried together...laughter and joy have we shared and most of all...our deep friendship with each other...
Now...the new class com election is on. I want to take this opportinuity( dunno whether correct spelling...pls dun blam me kays? =D) to thank all of you peops who supported me...whether or not u did help in whatever decoration, and others gave moral and emotional, spritual, physical support...and i could really feel the support coming from you peops...and with that...thus welfare can be able to
survive till this day...of course with chio bu Mrs Soh's help and guidence la! =D
I would want to say one thing: Welfare could not have succeeded and endured all the different difficulties without u peops help...so with this...Thank You 1L...=D
Now as you have placed your trust in me for the past few months...i also have to apologise for not winning any noticeboard competitions...but i believe that with all of u peops supporting me...it is POSSIBLE!
okie...so i say so much le...very thirsty...i hope that you all will continue trusting in me and let me continue to be 1L's adorable Welfare IC...

Dear 1L,
To me, the main problem with 1L: a few of those who have leadership qualities and are vocal with initiative, are putting their qualities for their own gain and disrupts 1L's harmony and such characteristics take a long time to/never change; those with sound character and role-model-material, are not vocal & morally courageous enough and do not take enough initiative to stand up for what is right, but these can be learnt & trained.

Therefore, let's have a FAIR revote on Tue where you can vote anonymously for whom you think can REALLY lead & serve 1L, not based on friendship/exchange/threaten/pity/give face, etc. Every vote counts, please use them wisely and keep them confidential to prevent possible hoo has from happening again.

After the election of the new committee, i hope everyone would respect everyone's decision and the leaders RISE to the occasion to LEAD, the rest to be COOPERATIVE & FOLLOW/RESPECT the chosen ones.

My Student Councillor Speech starts here!

A little more about myself. I have been a class leader & a PE Monitress when i was in my Primary School. (Although i wasn't a prefect, i hope you won't overlook the matter that i won't be able to lead! (= )

I want to be a SC because i am a responsible, well-disciplined, proactive, sociable & cheerful person, who enjoys cheering & dancing & most important of all, I am always ready to serve & lead.

I possess good organization & teamwork skills, not forgetting that i also have strong leadership quality. ( Er.. Not trying to boast..) =P

I understand that being a SC involve lots of project work & i love to indulge in project work as this gives me a chance to interact with my team-mates better & at the same time, offer my suggestions to them. They often have outings & i love outings because i like to explore & through these outings, i can gain valuable knowledge.

Although some students commented that being a SC is a very tough job as you need to devote a lot of time & effort for it, i believe i can manage my time well & accept whatever challenges come my way & do my best.

Sorry about the late post.Let me start the speech with the reason why I want to be a SC.The reason is because I want to serve and give my best to the school.During my primary school days,I am not a prefect and I did not help the school in anything.In my secondary school I want to make a change,I hope to contribute as much as I can to the school in one way or another.The Orientation Camp also inspires me to be a SC as I had seen a lot of OGLs being very enthu and nice to the Sec 1s.

heyheys...
I shall start with a brief introduction abt myself. Basically, I started leading as a monitress, and later on as a prefect in my primary school. Besides that, I was also a pupil leader. As a pupil leader, I was taught to be Caring, Obedient, Responsible, Attentive and Loyal. Not forgetting the other values like Self-control and Punctuality. I went to several leadership camps to polish up my skills in leading. I'm not trying to zi kua, but i believe that i have the potential to be a great leader, to lead not only the class but also the school. I hope that i will have the chance to continue to serve in secondary school.

Do you all remember the FUN times we had during the camp? Yupps, you can say that they were the ones who motivated me to be like them. I truly aspire to be like them, people who contributes generously to the school, even something small counts. =)

I hope that u guys can give me the opportunity to display my leadership skills and also to train to be an even better leader, so as to be a leader whom everyone desires to have. Not only that, i also want to be a good role model for others to emulate. By being a leader, i want to bring the school to greater heights and to uphold the good name of Anglican High. =))

I shall end off with a famous quote by JF Kennedy, " Ask not what my country can do for me but what I can do for my country." Similarly, I hope to follow in his footsteps by doing what i can for the school. I will definitely strive to be a good leader. x)) Hope that u guys will have faith in me and put your trust in me. Sorry for this but I just want to continue with my previous entry. Well...Basically, I feel thatI have leadership qualities as I have attended leadership courses in my primary school. I have my reasons for wanting to be an S.C...

I was greatly inspired by my OGL and I want to take part in next years orientation camp.
I want to serve the school well and practise the values of the school.
I want to take the route of my brother who was once a student councillor too.

these are basically the four resons why I want to be a student councillor. To tell you the truth, I had many hesistations at first...but at last, I decided to join due to mdm Teo's words and my seniors encouragement... I really hope to be an S.C. please help me to realise my wish and my dream.

Hello everyone...I am Sheila.First of all,I will share with you the qualities of a good student councillor.
QUALITIES OF A GOOD STUDENT COUNCILLOR
1) Of sound character and possesses Strong leadership(someone with presense) qualities.Able to command attention and lead with ease.Have the courage to be a ROLE MODEL.
2) Creative, resourceful, good inter-personal and communicative skills.
3) Responsible. Able to follow through the duties assigned to him to her.
4) Disciplined. The nominee must not have any serious disciplinary record(including rudeness to teachers, disruptive in class, does not hand in work or assignments on time). He or she must be well behaved in class and serves as a good role model.
5) Most important of all, the willingness to want to serve and sacrifice for the school population and the community.
6) Achieved 60%and above(overall%) for CA1.
After you are sure of what makes a good student councillor, it is time for me to carry on. Next, i hope i can become a student councillor as it can develop my leadership qualities. At the same time, my academic results might also improve as it reminds me of being a good role model. It will also help me improve on my communicative skills and thus making me a more responsible pupil. Although studying plays a very important role in my life, character development is also very vital. We all know that a good student councilor has to be of sound charactor and possess strong leadership qualities. When i was Primary 5 and 6. i was a monitress and i learnt is not an easy job to be a leader. In these two years i won the EAGLES award. As most of us know, EAGLES award is an award that the government gives to pupils with leadership qualities and also exel in CCAs. i was nominated by my form teachers and classmates for this award.
A good student councilor also must have the courage to be a role model. They have to be creative, resourceful, good inter-personal, and communicative skills. Most importantly, a good student councilor have to be responsible and disciplined.I am disciplined and can be responsible and i am willing to serve and sacrifice my time for the school. i've considered the good the bad points of being a student councilor, i think to serve the school is actually what i hope to do as a student councilor. i can also take this chance to contribute to the school, and serve my classmates. Hi all dudes/dudettes of 1L out there =]

This is your cranky classmate out here, Ru Ying. aka. FRY. =]

First of all, stressing that it has nothing to do with the SCN, I would like to seize this opportunity to apologise to some people whom I have unknowningly/knowingly offended/irritated. I hope you would just all forgive me for whatever I have done. I just hope you would put the past behind you and look forward to the future me.

I have also realised that it should be the time to give recognition to the people who have really contributed to the class. For eg. Wei Ting and XinTing for setting up the class cheer, the people who have really put in alot of effort in decorating the noticeboard, and many other peeps in the class. However, I have observed that some in the class, instead of even trying to help out and/or cooperate in the class cheer/etc, they start to give negative comments and bring the mood of the class down, which is not at all comforting. Hence I just hope/wish that we, as a class, may start/continue to cooperate and join hands with one another to bond and soar as eagles towards success.

This just all sums up to why I want to be a student councillor. I wish to serve the class and the school to the maximum of my potential or maybe even further. Although I can even help out in the minor events as a student, I wish to serve the school in many other ways which is by so, further then the student's limitations to help out in class or school. I also wish to have the opportunity to guide and lead my peers, or rather, class towards our common vision, which in turn will become realities, if we strive and succeed. I am also more than willing to sacrifice my time and studies, to become an SC.

Not attempting to zi4 kua1 here, but I believe that I have the potential to serve and lead towards these realities. During primary school, I was one of the few in my CCA who was awarded the EAGLES award, an award that was given to those who excelled in it and possessed leadership qualities. I have also been given the chance to be a leader in many other events or project works in my former primary school, which contributed to a whole lot of success.
I also possess the discipline to behave well in class, not making unnecessary comments or disruptive behavior which impedes our daily study growth.
I believe that I am also resourceful, being able to act out effectively and imaginatively, in difficult situations, being able to turn the tables over even during dark and lonely times.

Nevertheless, I also do not deny the bad points I possess too.
Clumsy as I am, perhaps you may see me forgetting the time and arriving late to class at times. Sometimes, maybe even forgetting to do my IT duty. I apologise for not being very responsible to the class. However, there was a period of time when I wasn't feeling really well and did not do IT duty at all which I hope everyone could understand. Hence, I am ready to improve myself on all these mistakes and shortcomings, not just because I want to be a SC, but to improve on my character and strive towards a better person.

In conclusion, this speech justs serves as a appeal to allow me to have this chance to serve YOU, the class, school and as a mirror to myself to improve on what my potential shortcomings and longcomings(good points. lol) are.

Hey 1L! I'm Hui Feng here, giving the SCN speech!

I'm sure that all of you have been noticing my behaviour and such. I also won't deny that my conduct has been quite bad since the start of the year. I had always forgot to do or bring my homework and I'm most of the time late for the first bell. I have to thank my mother who kept me punctual for the second bell, otherwise there would be my third time and I would have gotten a demerit point.

I know that I lack most of the qualities to become a good SC. I don't have what it takes from point number 1, 2 and 4 of the qualities stated which includes strong leadership, creativity, being resourceful, inter-personal and communicative skills, plus the facts of not passing up most of my homework on time. However, I'm ready to improve all these, not just for being a SC, but also to improvise my own character. SCN may be the most possible reason to motivate me to improvise my shortcomings. But I hope you all can see my good points too, although I'm not trying to self-praise. Teachers have been praising me for my responsibility as a Geog Rep, and I had done all the extra things Mrs Soh asked the subject Reps to do even before she mentioned it, which includes counting the number of worksheets I had collected and such. I also have the discipline to reach a location early for classes, assembly and morning devotions. My overall percentage is above the required 60% but it doesn't matter because the most important point is that I am willing to serve and sacrifice for the school and class.

Nevertheless, we always like the good things of SCs, like camps and such for being at most occasions for the school needs us. I myself would probably like the bonding times and times when we can serve. I may not be good at leading but I'm always ready to follow and serve. I'm sure and I believe that if you all can give me a chance to prove myself, I can improvise and be a good SC. I'm not doing this for SC, but I just want to apologise for any offences and mistakes, but I also don't expect for forgiveness as not everyone can do that. I won't force any one of you to vote for me as I know it is one's freedom to choose. However, I wish to remind that having the freedom to choose doesn't mean that you can be bias and leave out potential SCs while letting the wrong candidates getting in(I really don't mean any offence). But I definitely still hope for your votes to get me up and going for the school! Thank you very much!

I am very happy to be with all of you in the past 4 months in AHS. During this period, I have learnt a lot from our teachers, who have been providing me with useful guidance. I have also received encouragement from each and everyone of you.

In fact, some of you have given me your valuable feedback on the ways that I do things in AHS. This feedback has rightly pointed out my shortcomings, which I have been trying my best to improve. I hope that through the improvement, I will grow and become a better person.

also, we'd DEFINITELY get the CLASS EFFORT prize for the doll-making and a MERIT prize for the styrofoam dolls, especially the one made by jovyne, there's a merit star sticker at her doll!

Hi everyone! I agree with Samie that we shouldn't be avoiding the opposite gender, we ought to mix around! We're in secondary school already, not still in those primary school days where boys and girls go "Eww, I then don't want to go near him/her!".. And also, we shouldn't be just like always chatting in the tagboard.. Then what would happen to our posts? We've got to be more enthu, even in writing posts! It doesn't mean that only when there are important announcements to make then we post right? Otherwise Wu laoshi is going to make this as homework.. More homework piling up, then we can forget about freetime for ourselves! Like example, we can wish all the people who are having birthdays in the same month and we can do that monthly, just like how I did on my blog! Learn from the Welfare ICs! See they always post one.. the rest of us not very active lor.. Yup.. And regarding SC, just wish for those who volunteered good luck! I myself need improving too so I may.. Erm...Mus have faith in urselves ar! I believe that everyone of us have the qualities of being a leader! I also agree with Mrs Soh about what she said. Being a leader doesn't mean u have to be a SC, u can also serve the class and ur class mates. u can also be a leader without being given a title! U find the joy of serving the class, the school and people look up to u and support u! And peops out there who wants to be SC, have the courage to raise up ur hands!!! Take the first step! Who knows u may be the president of the student counsil who has great leadership skills! Even if u dun get choosen, then serve the class la! Develop ur leadership skills! Then try again!
